While Sasuke simply said she was "annoying," the fanbase as a whole pretty much agreed that she was downright awful and crossed a line. At one point, she even tried to make fun of and mock him for being an orphan in front of Sasuke, who was an orphan himself. Instead, she would constantly talk down to him and compare him to Sasuke, which was something he felt insecure about early on in the series. To make it worse, Naruto had a crush on Sakura and was actually nice to her in hopes that she would like him back. Naruto wasn't a bad kid - he just didn't know how to get people to like or acknowledge him. While this got on the nerves of most characters, the show made it clear that he was doing all this for attention because of how lonely he was due to the village ostracizing him for most of his life. He was constantly pulling pranks, slacking off and making a fool of himself. ![]() When the series first began, Naruto was, admittedly, pretty darn obnoxious.
